Integrity of Self MovementArts™ (ISMA) is a system of movement education designed to encourage awareness, appreciation, and utilization of the individual as a movement instrument. In many cases it is a re-examination on how we move, which enables us to train or re-train our bodies to adopt more efficient movement habits.

ISMA examines the functionality of the human anatomy and adhers to the integrity of the skeletal and muscular structure of the body. ISMA takes a look at the motivation for and the initiation of movement.

Integrity of Self MovementArts™ implements effective breathing, employs imagery, explores energy dynamics, establishes balance, and incorporates the natural theatrical elements of the instrument. Throughout an ISMA Session the language for understanding, observing, analyzing and notating movement (Labanotation and Laban/ Bartenieff Movement Analysis) is used. This allows for a better understanding of HOW we are moving in SPACE and TIME.
